Being an active member in a UU spiritual community fulfills my needs — to be with fellow UUs doing crucial social justice work, to learn from others how to become a more whole person and to contribute my leadership skills.

I joined RVUUF in early 2008. At first I wanted to give more than I could sustain, both in time and treasure.
Nine years ago I was attending a divorce support group. The facilitator had recommended that we take care of five things in our lives: Sleep, Nutrition, Exercise, Friends and something Spiritual.
My upbringing still leaves its mark of Sunday morning meaning church. So it follows that I have a need to fill that space with something related to spirituality. We became members of RVUUF 12 years ago when we returned to Ashland. We became active almost immediately and have reaped the benefits of our membership and commitments to service within our community.
March is blowing in with a flurry of activity at RVUUF and the Soul Matters theme asks, “What does it mean to be a community of risk?”
We grew up in Methodist households and John’s father was a minister. Not only was the Church our religious underpinning, it was also the community where we made our friends and found our mates. However, by the time we immigrated to the U.S. in 1967 we were on our way to becoming skeptics.
Here’s a look at services taking place in March 2017. Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.
When we moved to Ashland three years ago, RVUUF offered us a community of people who became friends to walk with us on our journey through life. We found a community of people that we could help support and who we could turn to when we needed support.
