Steward’s Corner: Fellowship has important place in our lives

Shortly after moving to the U.S. in 1975 we became disillusioned with dogmatic religions and stayed away from churches. This changed after our daughters introduced us to Unitarianism in the church they attended in Seattle. This experience made us realize that its focus was much closer to our beliefs, so when we moved to Ashland we sought out the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

Both of us like to get involved in activities whose worth is important to us, so we sought out those where we thought we could contribute. Over the years, Fran has served as chair of UU’s in Action, Co-chair of the Environmental Committee and is presently Co-chair of the Aesthetics committee, a branch of Buildings, Aesthetics and Grounds.

Herb’s interest is in numbers, so he became an early member of the Endowment trust, on which he is serving again after a several year hiatus. He was part of CFM for a short time, and represented RVVUF at the Food Bank for many years. Herb currently serves as one of three co-chairs of the Finance Committee.

Our financial commitment to RVUUF represents the important place the fellowship has in our lives and our desire to help it continue to flourish.
