At its meeting on May 10, the RVUUF Board discussed the homeless men who have been sleeping on church property and hanging out in the children’s play area. Neighbors, congregants and staff have voiced concerns and complaints.
A winter shelter operates two nights per week, from November through April, out of Ashland’s Pioneer Hall through a partnership with Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and Temple Emek Shalom. As reported in this week’s “News to Note” email newsletter: Something new will be added to RVUUF’s Food Bank collection on the first Sunday of the month. The Social Justice Committee has approved adding an extra box marked for supplies for the homeless.
Our young people in Religious Explorations assembled about 38 kits on Sunday, to be distributed to homeless people at the Pioneer Hall shelter.
