The third-Sunday “Share The Basket” Recipient Will Be Veterans For Peace, Rogue Valley Chapter 156 (VFP 156), during the Nov. 18 service. Vietnam combat vet Dan Davis will share a short personal perspective on the work of VFP 156.
Members and allies of VFP 156 draw on their personal experiences and viewpoints to raise public awareness of the true costs of militarism and war – and of the fact there are peaceful, effective alternative ways to solve conflicts. The local chapter partners in this effort with like-minded local groups, such as Peace House and the Ashland Culture of Peace Commission, and with its more than 140 other chapters world-wide.
VFP 156 uses varying means to share its message, ranging from participation in last Sunday’s Armistice Day ceremony, which honored Peace Corps veterans, to offering scholarships for young veterans to attend state networking events. For more information, contact chapter treasurer Roger Best.
