On the “Third Sunday” of each month, RVUUF gives away the Sunday Service’s offering to an organization that embodies our values, principles, and mission in the world. This Sunday, December 17, we will give to Ashland Youth for Electrification (AYE).
– Louise Paré (Social Justice and Action)
“AYE is working to pass the Climate & Clean Air Ordinance in the city of Ashland, which will set an emissions standard to reduce the amount of pollution from fossil fuels permitted in new residential buildings. This policy will move forward impactful climate action while improving indoor air quality, public health, and affordability for our communities.
By setting limits for polluting emissions in new residential construction, we can ensure that our city is building smart from the start. The use of fossil fuel gas to power home appliances is a significant source of harmful indoor air and climate pollution. Passing a limit on the amount of toxic pollutants that new homes can emit is an opportunity to improve the health of our communities. This group is part of Rogue Climate which was founded in 2013. Our mission is to empower Southern Oregon communities most impacted by climate change, including low-income, rural, youth, seniors, and communities of color, to win climate justice by organizing for clean energy, sustainable jobs, and a healthy environment.”
