Your Social Justice and Action Committee recommends that you vote “YES” on ballot Measures 107, 108, 109, and 110 on the November general election ballot. We feel strongly that they promote the general health and welfare of our community and align well with our Seven Principles: (Info on the measures and more HERE…)
107 – Allows state and local governments to enact various state and local controls on political campaign financing
108 – Increases cigarette taxes, enacts taxes on other nicotine inhalant systems, and directs that the revenue be used for medical and health care and improvement programs
109 – Legalizes the use of psilocybin mushrooms for state-supervised mental health research and treatment
110 – Decriminalizes possession of some drugs and establishes a state drug treatment and recovery program funded by marijuana tax revenue
We urge you to vote “YES” on these four measures, research them further if you like, and suggest that your friends and family vote for them also. Remember that we UUs are as a group legally allowed – as well as morally guided by our values – to support political issues and principles (as opposed to specific candidates) which fit in with our beliefs! – Roger Best
