Here’s a look at services taking place in May 2017. Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.
May 7: “A Holy Exchange”
Rev. Nan L. White will share two stories, one from an ancient theist and one from a contemporary atheist revealing how they are more similar than different when it comes to sharing compassion with a stranger. Offering for the Food Bank will be received. After social time, an informational congregational meeting will be held to prepare for the annual meeting on May 21, 2017.
May 14: “A Circle of Care”
Honoring the lives of children on Mother’s Day is an important ritual for any congregation that values the responsibility to nurture and support future generations. Parents will offer their children to be dedicated in a ceremony led by Rev. White. Her homily is titled “A Circle of Care.” This service also includes a Joy and Sorrow ritual.
May 21: UU Annual Flower Communion
Rev. Nan L. White will lead the traditional UU Annual Flower Communion. Please arrive by bringing one flower to exchange on this special Sunday. As you enter, place your flower on the table in the center of the Great Hall. The third Sunday offering will be received and given. RVUUF’s annual congregational meeting for voting members will occur following social time.
May 28: What Are We Hungry For?
Our country’s narrative seeks to honor our veterans, yet all too often these men and women join the most vulnerable among us in the relentless cycle of hunger, homelessness, and poverty. Mary Rexford and others will interweave Memorial Day and World Hunger Day. We will lift up and honor these folks, alongside community responses. We seek perspective, not despair. Through our stories, readings, and the RVUUF choir, we will bring to the table what calls to us at this time, on this day.
