Sunday services in July 2018

Here’s a look at services taking place in July 2018. Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.

July 1: Experiencing General Assembly Worship
Deepen your connection to our larger faith by attending the Sunday morning worship presented at the 2018 General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association, including video excerpts of the service recorded the previous week at GA.

July 8: Struggling with Peace
Rev. Heather Lynn Hanson has “struggled with conflict” most of her life by avoiding it. Then she realized that her “being nice” was not helping–but neither was getting more aggressive. What she has discovered, and is still slowly learning, is how much her own attitudes shape her ways of speaking peace in situations of conflict and anger. She’ll bring some insights you may find helpful when speaking with people whose points of view and values are so different from your own.

July 15: Nourishing Our Spirits for the Long Haul
The world often seems frightful these days. From our own neighborhoods to the wide, wide world out there, disasters, wars and human cruelty tax our spirits and test our stamina. What’s the secret to getting through the despair and keeping hope alive? Here’s another take on that perennial challenge from Rev. Katherine Jesch. (Spoiler alert: it’s not easy, but it is possible!)

July 22: UU and…
What do Unitarian Universalists believe? Members of the Worship Team will each share their own answer to this question, and each answer will be different. Come explore how the UU faith is big enough to hold many different religious identities.

July 29: Homeless Sabbath
How can we ever imagine what it is like to be homeless? We can’t unless we have been homeless. Today we will hear about the homeless experience from the homeless. We will play with our comfort and see what happens. We will address every part of our mission today.
