Here’s a look at services taking place in January 2019. The Soul Matters theme for the month is “Possibility.” Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.
Jan. 6: The Possibility of New Beginnings
As we begin the new year, let’s contemplate the potential of a new beginning. In the service, Reverend Soto will explore possibilities and include both their journey to ministry and the blessings and challenges unfolding for Unitarian Universalists in this moment. Prepare by thinking of a challenge that has crossed the threshold with you from 2018 to 2019, maybe an individual and a community challenge.
Jan. 13: The Possibilities of Love
What is Love? What does it make possible? Is Love enough? Why is it central to our UU theology? What does it look like when we are centered in Love? Rev. Sean ponders the possibilities of Love.
Jan. 20: The Possibility of Justice
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream was a powerful statement of the possibility of justice in our nation and in the world. What is our statement of possibility? What do we believe about the future and how it should be? What will our vision inspire us to do? If justice is possible, what actions will bring it into being? RVUUF’s third-Sunday recipient will be the Family Nurturing Center.
Jan. 27: The Promise and the Practice
What would it be like if our UU worship service centered entirely around the voices and the experiences of black Unitarian Universalists? What truths might we hear, however difficult? What might we learn? How might these black UU leaders teach us to be better allies, better siblings in faith, and even better citizens in our community?
