Here’s a look at services taking place in August 2016. Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.
Aug. 7: Singing Truth to Power
Singing will be interwoven into Rev. White’s sermon, Singing Truth to Power. Rev. White will draw from Pete Seeger’s wisdom of the power of singing together with a cause.
Aug. 14: All Else is Waiting
Rev. Margaret Keip of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Grants Pass will exchange pulpits with Rev. Nan L. White to reflect on courage and risk, inspired by an anecdote about the Flying Wallendas, the near-legendary high wire act.
Aug. 21: Found in Translation
We rely on the skills of translators for all books and other documents written in languages that we do not speak. Our understanding of world history, world literature, and world religions is informed by the insights and biases implicit in translations of the original works. The quality of its translation is especially significant for sacred scriptures. Come learn some history and hear some examples led by Camille Korsmo, lay leader. Rogue Retreat will receive the third-Sunday offering.
Aug. 28: New mission: So What/What Now?!
Rev. White will address the importance of how RUUVF’s new mission can influence the meaning and ministry of RVUUF in ways that bring cohesion, clarity, integrity and energy into the existence and purpose of Unitarian Universalism in the Rogue Valley.
