‘Soul Matters’ deadline extended

Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is extending its “Soul Matters” registration deadline for one more week, through Sept. 20, to allow as many more people who want to register to do so.

In a memorandum distributed to subscribers of RVUUF’s “News to Note” MailChimp newsletter, Soul Matters Team coordinator Mary Rexford expressed the team’s pleasure that so many have registered for the Soul Matters program.

“We are guessing that others who would like to register haven’t yet done so. Maybe you’ve been away; or are uncertain what the program entails for you as a participant. Maybe you’re not yet clear about your own schedule, making it difficult to register; or are simply unsure whether you want to participate.”

Soul Matters Sharing Circles will meet once per month, for approximately two hours. Each month, participants will receive a set of spiritual exercises related to that month’s topic and a set of questsion.

“You choose the ONE exercise that most interests or appeals to you, and go where it takes you. From the questions, you again choose the ONE you are most intrigued by or that most ‘hooks’ you, and let it lead you where you need to go.

“When your circle meets, you share your experience, the journey you had with your question and exercise. After each person has shared, there is time for group discussion.

“The packet includes abundant additional materials, for you to explore as you choose: readings, Wise Words (quotes), articles, movies, books. There is no ‘right way’ to engage with these materials. It’s up to you.”

There are three ways to participate in the program.

1. Most people will register to be part of a Soul Matters circle. A questionaire/survey will gather information to help RVUUF form the sharing circles.

“You will need to be clear about your availability, so please remember you need your calendar when you sit down at your computer to begin this survey.”

Ann Hackett and Mary Rexford will be in the conference room after the Sunday service on Sept. 13 and Sept. 20 to assist people to register who do not have access to the Internet. Please bring your calendar.

2. Some will participate as part of an ongoing group. Your group needs to make this decision together, and the group’s facilitator will register the group for a Soul Matters Sharing Circle.

3. If neither of these options work for you, you can receive the materials to do this program individually, and potentially share in some other format, such as a Facebook group.

The Soul Matters team will form the circles by the end of September and will notify registrants of the results. Use RVUUF’s contact form to request more information from Mary Rexford, Carole Hesse or Diane Werich.
