Seasons of Awe and Awesomeness

At this Spring Equinox time, we will look at the awe-inspiring and the awesome rhythms of nature. We will make time for beauty and overwhelming goodness that may produce awe. We will witness the Earth’s awesomeness as the seasons change.

Reverend Sean explains that he creates the topics and titles of services far in advance so that everyone involved in the service can weave together related music and readings. Today’s topic of the awesomeness of spring is the springboard for an important sermon about human rights and a call to action for all of us. He explains, “Tomorrow is the Transgender Day of Visibility and I often let it go by without mention in our service but this year that feels wrong…The current administration has been intentional, direct and brutal in its attack on trans people and I know I have to say something.” Rev. Sean shares about his experience and ties it back to the topic of Spring’s powers. “We need the strength of Persephone returning from the underworld. We need the persistence of Spring. We need to return to beauty again and again. We need to uphold each other’s humanity.”
