June 14, 2026 is Flag Day, and the current President’s 80th Birthday. This July will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

These events bring up complicated feelings. They also bring up questions. Will we celebrate these anniversaries? If we do, how? In our celebrations, will we tell the truth about our history? Or will we whitewash the past and leave out the unflattering parts we’d rather not think about?
