Beloved Community is place where we care for each other

Our Beloved Community is a place where we care about and care for each other. Here are just a few ways congregants have expressed their caring by contributing time, treasure and talent to RVUUF.

The Building and Grounds committee has installed an attractive ramp to Emerson House. New chairs have been set up in the great hall. The Great Decisions group, chaired by Dave Baker, donated a large TV screen under the balcony. Thanks to the generosity of several congregants and a grant from Pacific Northwest District (PNWD), Walter Ensign is installing an overhead projector for the great hall.

We were able to successfully apply and receive this grant because 37 percent of our congregants are Chalice Lighters. If our percentage falls below 30 percent we don’t have access to this resource. Chalice Lighter membership allows us to support other churches in the Pacific Northwest District and qualify for district grants. Ask me about becoming a Chalice Lighter.

Linden Crouch has once more planned a delightful Bodacious Rainbow Ball on Friday Feb. 19 to benefit Lotus Rising.

The responsibilities of the Nominating Committee chaired by Kathleen Maloney have been expanded to include leadership training and candidate selection for leadership school.

Krynn Lukacs continues to provide creative intergenerational programs monthly such as game night in February. On Tuesday and Thursday night, volunteers are staffing the emergency winter shelter for the homeless.

Our Music Director, Shaun Garner, provided a day-long choir retreat, which combined Rogue World Ensemble and RVUUF’s choir to study with a professor of voice from Boston’s Berklee School of Music.

To ensure good communication, the Board will sponsor Committee Night on Feb. 26, 5:30 p.m., and a Congregation informational meeting after the service on March 6.

The Fun Committee is sponsoring Travel Sharing on Feb. 26 in Emerson House after Committee Night. A big THANK YOU to all of the staff and volunteers who maintain and nurture our Beloved Community.
