SJ&A proposes overnight parking at RVUUF

There are many people who, having lost their homes, are forced to live in their cars or vans. Car camping on the street is illegal in Ashland and the police will move people on or ticket them.

The Social Justice and Action (SJ&A) Committee is proposing to the Board that RVUUF try to help some of these people by offering them up to three parking spots behind Emerson House. Guests will be carefully vetted and priority will be given to families.

If you would like more information on the proposal, please contact any of the task force members who have been working on the program: Roger Best, Ollie Bucolo, Linden Crouch, John Limb, John Wieiczorek.

Social Justice and Action realizes that this is a very small effort to help the homeless. The committee is pursuing other possibilities such as working with other organizations on more permanent solutions such as the tiny homes effort. If you would like to help in this work, please join SJ&A.
