John Beeson, local social justice activist, is subject of historian’s talk

Jan Wright, a local historian and author, will speak from noon to 12:30 p.m. in RVUUF’s Great Hall, after the Sunday, June 25 service, about early social justice activist, John Beeson. According to Wright, Beeson was eccentric and a remarkable local resident, who was well-known but not necessarily well-liked in Jackson County, Oregon. Beeson blew the whistle on Indian exterminators during the Indian wars in the 1850s and was forced to leave his home and family on Wagner Creek because of it.
