Membership
We are pleased you have chosen to worship with us, and we invite you to participate in our programs and activities, whether or not you are ready for full membership. When you are ready, membership will be a natural step, a way to express your joy in – and responsibility for – this faith community.
Membership is a public affirmation that you support the principles and values of RVUUF. And, like anything else … the more you put into any relationship or endeavor, the more likely you are to find deeper meaning and connections within yourself and in your life.
If you are ready to join our congregation, it’s easy to become a member.
- Attend an orientation session, “Getting to Know Us,” offered twice a year.
- Participate in the congregation and agree to support RVUUF’s values and principles.
- Sign the RVUUF membership book.
- Pledge a financial contribution to RVUUF. The amount is your personal decision. There is no minimum. Financial ability to pledge is never an obstacle to membership. RVUUF is entirely self-supporting.
MEMBERS have some tangible benefits, but among the most significant benefits are being part of a caring and supportive home community, personal and spiritual growth, deep connections with others, and being part of something greater than yourself.
Members may:
- Vote at congregational meetings (adding your voice when UU’s make a public statement on social justice issues, elections, budget adoption).
- Receive free or reduced fees for facility rentals.
- Enjoy free minister’s services for weddings, memorials, and other rites of passage.
- Serve on the Board, or at the District or other level in the UUA.
- Have access to scholarships for valuable training and conferences.
- Receive a subscription to UU WORLD magazine, published four times a year.
- Celebrate at the New Member Party!
Visitors and Congregants are always welcome at RVUUF, and may:
- Participate in activities and events, and be an important part of congregational life.
- Attend or lead affinity groups, be on teams or committees.
When you become a member of RVUUF, you enter into a covenant with the congregation and join us in our mission to inspire spiritual growth, care for each other and our community, and seek truth and act for justice. We want to become your spiritual home.
