Projective Dream Work –The Legacy of Rev. Jeremy Taylor

A talk followed by a demonstration of Taylor’s group dream work process

Saturday, March 30th from 10-12 noon, under the balcony

Rev. Jeremy Taylor, D.Min., who died in 2018, taught dream work for over 40 years, including at Starr King School for the Ministry and at UU churches around the country. He developed a group process for working with dreams that is respectful, egalitarian, and easy to learn. With roots in the socio-political climate of the 1960s – civil rights, feminism, and the anti-war movement – Jeremy’s projective dreamwork method was born out of a deep conviction that working in this way can effect profound positive change at both individual and collective levels.

I studied with Jeremy for many years, and am embarking on writing a book about his work and legacy, and its relevance to the challenging social, political, and environmental issues of our times. My writing will be informed by interviews with students, colleagues, and friends, and access to the archives of Jeremy’s own writings, as well as his massive library of annotated books. In this presentation I will talk about the importance of Jeremy’s legacy in the UU church and beyond, go over his dream work “tool kit,” and provide an experience of his group dreamwork process, working with dreams volunteered by those present. Any donations to support work on the book will be gratefully accepted, though not required. All are welcome!
