After a series of congregational votes to improve finances and to prepare our search for a half-time minister, the RVUUF board, along with members of a Right Relations Team, met with UUA officials this week to chart a new course of improvements for our fellowship.
“We’re acknowledging that some degree of controversy and conflict is inevitable through periods of tough decision-making and major change” board President Donna Barrett remarked. “Our central focus will be to heal ourselves from lingering differences and to bring stability and renewed strength through our sworn covenant of right relations.”
Towards this aim, RVUUF will receive support guidance from the UUA as a Special Care fellowship. Under the plan, fellowship leaders will give consideration to adopting a series of improvements to be recommended in a draft document being prepared by western district UUA officials.
“We’re doubling our efforts by entering into a period of reflection and discernment of how well we’ve endured through recent events and what we might do differently in the future”, Donna said. “Our purpose is to assure our governance, finances and care for one another is centered within our covenant of right relations at all times,” she added.
