It wasn’t planned this way, but I assembled and hung this banner, depicting the names of famous Unitarian Universalists, during May with its Soul Matters emphasis on the subject of “Tradition.”
Honoring past UUs is one area in which this faith tends to honor and preserve tradition. (As I write this, the latest issue of UU World commemorates the 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth.)
Could this growing list of names, several recognized as having lived during my own lifetime, be part of the “Hold on and make room!” that the Soul Matters journal invited us to heed this month?
The sweatshirt from which this applique panel came was donated to Religious Explorations. (I made this banner with the donor’s permission to make use of the sweatshirt this way).
I originally hung the banner on the front bulletin board where it can be seen by people entering the church, but in a short while, I plan to hang the banner near the R.E. classrooms.
