Welcome Janet, RVUUF’s New Congregational Administrator

Janet Langley will be joining the RVUUF team this month as our new Congregational Administrator.

Janet began her career life as an elementary school teacher in Southern California, first in the Santa Barbara area, and then in San Diego. During her time as a classroom teacher, she was also an avid student of yoga, and became a yoga teacher in the Iyengar tradition after years of study.

She longed, however, to be closer to family. So in 2004, she moved to the Rogue Valley. At that time, elementary school teaching jobs were scarce. So she embarked upon new careers: she became a small business owner, taking over a small yoga studio in Medford, Rose Yoga, and started to work as a legislative aide for Representative Peter Buckley. Eventually, working as a legislative aide became a full-time job, and she moved the small yoga studio to Ashland, where it thrived on the corner of 6th & A Streets for eight years. When Rep. Buckley retired from the Oregon Legislature, Janet continued administrative work for her husband’s publishing company as well as teaching yoga and running her yoga studio.

When the Rogue Valley started to emerge from the challenges of 2020 and beyond, Janet began working at Kagyu Sukha Choling, a buddhist temple here in Ashland as an administrative assistant. She also currently teaches yoga online and at various locations in town. An important aspect of Janet’s work life is that she shares core values with the organization she works with, and for this reason she really looks forward to working at RVUUF. She even gets to walk to work, living just blocks from RVUUF with her husband and dog.
