It is time to consider how you will support the presence of Intern Minister QuianaDenae Perkins in our lives.
Support for the position of Intern Minister comes from four sources:
1. the UUA is providing a significant stipend to us for her support;
2. the two congregations of UUs in Grants Pass and Klamath Falls are both contributing (and are both sharing in the benefit of the presence of our MinisterialIntern program); and
3. we need contributions from the members and friends of our congregation to support about 1/3 of the cost of her participation with us.
I mentioned this obligation during my comments at the Annual Meeting back in June, but there was no specific call at that time, and many of you may have missed it. The UUA expects us to support the Intern Minister program in our congregation (or across the three SOUUP congregations) in funds that do not derive from a budgetary allocation. This means that donations from congregants must support not only Intern Minister QuianaDenae Perkins during this year, but also the Intern Minister Program into the future.
To donate, please make your check payable to RVUUF, and put “Intern Minister Program” in the subject line. Funds donated will be used first to support this year’s program, and additional funds will be placed in an account dedicated to establishing a long-term resource from which the earnings will support the program over many years. If you would prefer to make a partial donation now and pledge to donate more later, please mail your pledges to RVUUF Treasurer, 87 Fourth Street, Ashland 97520; we will track them.
Please be generous with this worthwhile program. Thank you.
