Volunteers Needed to Cook for Winter Shelter, First Presbyterian Church, between noon and 5:30

There is a need for more volunteers to help cook food for people who have no place to stay in this cold weather. The winter shelter at the Presbyterian church has 40 people staying safely overnight, and we have been preparing food for them safely in the church kitchen. The new health department’s COVID19 precautions limit us to purchasing food prepared in commercial kitchens such as delis or grocery stores, and preparing it in the Church kitchen. Volunteers can either cook or provide food, and need to wear a face mask and keep 6 feet between themselves and other volunteers in the roomy, clean kitchen. We box the food in to-go containers and hired servers distribute it after we leave. If you would like to help, please call Vida Taylor at 360-904-4303 or Jerry Nutter at 541-890-4149.
