Those of us who have a warm home and plenty to eat have a lot to be thankful for this year. Many in our area do not have even these basic needs met. We are now preparing food for 40+ people at the winter shelter operated by OHRA every Friday at the Ashland Presbyterian Church between 11:30 am and 5:30 pm.
All food must be purchased from a grocery store with a commercial kitchen or prepared in the Presbyterian Church kitchen, according to new Covid19 guidelines. The kitchen is large enough for 3 or 4 people to be socially distant, is well equipped, and can be done by 3 or 4 people. Paid staff will clean before we arrive and serve after we leave; we only need to provide an entree, any side dishes, dessert, and fruit for the breakfast foods OHRA has purchased and asks us to bag for the next morning. To go containers are provided by OHRA, and they will provide beverages.
