‘Great Decisions’ to host last meeting of year

“Great Decisions,” moderated by Dave Baker, will meet for its final discussion of the year at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28, under the balcony at RVUUF. The topic for this meeting is “Global Health.”

Great Decisions has been hosted by RVUUF for more than a decade. It is open to all who are interested in global issues and how they relate to U.S. Policy. Sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, the group addresses eight topics of concern in each annual session. The group meets twice monthly under the balcony, usually on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from February through May.

A 30-minute DVD produced by the Foreign Policy Association begins each session, followed by a discussion of the topic. The Council also publishes a booklet that supports the discussion.

“The topic, Global Health, is of great importance,” according to Dave Baker. “This month we saw the reemergence of Ebola in DR of Congo. Climate change is causing shifts in disease vectors northward into countries that may be ill-prepared to deal with new diseases.”
