Here’s a look at services taking place in June 2018. The Soul Matters theme for the month is “Blessings.” Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.
June 3: Giving Meaning To Life
We all have gifts to bring, ways that we can bless the lives of people we love, of communities we are part of, and the whole world. Being a blessing is a way of giving our lives meaning and drawing meaning from life. We will explore the possibilities that open when we claim a calling that includes not just seeking blessings, but choosing to bless the world.
June 10: Blessed Be These Hands, Blessed Be These Bodies
For centuries, bodies were devalued and denigrated: called sinful, dirty, the opposite of all things spiritual. Even now, we judge and devalue bodies — our own and others’– when we think they are imperfect in some way. But what if our bodies — just exactly as they are — are a blessing?
June 17: Blessing the World When You Want to Burn it Down
This service is a personal reflection on the state of our world and how it affects the state of our spirits. It’s an exploration of anger at injustice, and how it might empower us to change.
June 24: Summer Solstice with Rev. Amy Beltaine
“We are the rising sun, we are the ones we are waiting for. Each of us wishes to give to the world and to help in some way, but so often we are running on empty. Gather in community to open to what nourishes us and gain the courage, clarity, and strength to share our gifts with the world.”
