From 10:30 a.m. to noon this Sunday, April 29, RVUUF will live-stream a service being held at Pacific Western Regional Assembly in Portland. This is a rare opportunity to connect with Unitarian Universalists across the northwest, and share in a large and festive service that several RVUUFian’s will be attending.
Rev Vanessa Rush Southern, senior minister at First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco, will lead the service. “We will hear from UUA president Rev Susan Frederick-Gray and be treated to wonderful music.”
Please note: This 90-minute service begins at 10:30 a.m., and will not include the usual welcome or announcements. The children will go directly to their classes. Please join Lois Pettinger, Mary Rexford, and the RVUUF community for this wonderful opportunity.
From the UUA-Pacific Western Regional Assembly: Keynote speaker on Saturday, April 28, will be U.S. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal. Congresswoman Jayapal is the first Indian-American woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress. Before being elected to represent Washington State’s 7th District in 2016, Jayapal was an immigration and labor activist in Seattle. Her writing has been featured in The New York Times and The Nation. She has been written about in Mother Jones as well as many other publications.
Worship service on Sunday, April 29, will be led by the Rev. Vanessa Rush Southern, senior minister at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco. Rev. Southern, a dynamic and inspiring speaker, previously preached at the Service of the Living Tradition at the 2013 UUA General Assembly. She is also the author of the UUA meditation manual Miles of Dream.
