Here’s a look at services taking place in April 2017. Services take place at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m.
April 2: The Practice of Covenant
Drawing from the inspiration of Rebecca Ann Parker’s book Blessing the World, What can Save Us Now?, Rev. Nan L. White will share, through Unitarian Universalism’s history of covenant-making, how we influence for the common good with covenantal practices. This service includes welcoming new members into the fellowship followed by a salad luncheon for everyone.
April 9: The Practice of Zen Giving
Rev. White’s message, titled “The Practice of Zen Giving,” includes a reciprocity that offers a way we can succeed, individually, as a people, and as a species, that works for the common benefit of all.
April 16: Easter
The UU Christian Group and Rev. Nan White will present an Easter service exploring the concept of personal resurrection as experienced throughout one’s lifetime, and Mary Magdalene will relate her remembrance of Easter and what it means to her.
April 23: The Practice of Transformation
Lois Pettinger will reflect on individual and community transformation, exploring the behaviors, events and experiences that have helped us grow and morph as individuals and as members of our spiritual community.
April 30: Children’s service
A special children’s service is being held to commemorate Día del Niño (Children’s Day, an annual celebration observed in Mexico on April 30 each year). As this is a fifth Sunday, the offering will go to the Ministerial Discretionary Fund, which exists to offer financial support to those in dire need.
