March sermons reflect varied themes

Much happens during the month of March 2016, including a spotlight on women’s history, stewardship in the church and a Soul Matters theme of “Resilience.” Services take place each Sunday morning in RVUUF’s Great Hall. Gathering music begins at 10:25 a.m. and the service starts at 10:30 a.m.

March 6: Roots hold me close. Wings set me free
Two phrases from Carolyn McDade’s song “Spirit of Life” that expresses a resilience in UU communities across the country. Rev. White will question how our resilience with generosity can set us free enough to fly as a religious community in the Rogue Valley.

March 13: Death: a Gift of Life
A change in time, literally, can help us see differently. During Women’s History Month, Rev. White will focus on the life of one woman who has impacted Unitarian Universalism by millions of dollars after her death, not just during her life. “Death: a Gift of Life” is the title of Rev. White’s sermon. (Daylight Savings Time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 13. Be sure to set your clock ahead one hour the night before.)

March 20: Commit to the Common Good
The investments and dreams of those who came before us is why we exist today. Do we live up to their dreams when we pay for what we get or are we called to pay for what we give? Rev. White’s sermon title is “Commit to the Common Good.”

March 27: Easter
The UU Christian Group will present the service this coming Easter Sunday. The service will include joyous hymns, Easter readings, and the presentation of personal perspectives from four members of the group. There will be an Easter Bunny story, too.
