As summer gives way to autumn, Unitarian Universalist congregations often gather for Water Communion and Ingathering services—a time to reconnect after months of travel or adventure. Yet these beloved traditions invite us to do more than simply recount where we have been or mark the restart of another church year. They call us to consider what it truly means to gather again as a community.

This morning, we will honor both traditions by exploring what it means to return—not merely to a building or a calendar, but to one another. As we pour our individual waters into a common vessel, we celebrate the many journeys that have brought us here and the shared community we create when our lives flow together.
