Eyes to Burma: Update follows Oct. 4 service

Eyes To Burma’s Fred Stockwell will present an update on the organization’s work after this Sunday’s service at RVUUF.

Eyes to Burma is a very small non-profit organization with board members and administrative staff located in Ashland. Its mission is to assist approximately 400 refugees from Burma who live in a garbage dump outside Mae Sot, Thailand.

According to its website, Eyes to Burma provides “the most basic essentials, including food, clean water, clothing, and shelter when the incomes of the dump’s residents fall short. We provide medicine to prevent diseases caused by poor sanitation, and we offer transportation to medical facilities in emergencies.”

All staff members are unpaid volunteers.

Stockwell, who lives in Mae Sot full-time, provides daily assistance to the refugees. He also works to join volunteers and donors with the people in need.
