December Advancing Racial Justice Book Study

Members of RVUUF’s Anti-Racism team invite you into their book reading circle held on the first Thursday of each month. Our next gathering will be Thursday, December 4, 6:00pm-7:30pm, under the balcony in our great hall.

We will be discussing The Power of Bridging- how to build a world where we all belong by john a. powell. The focus of this book is on how we can go from hyper-individualism to radical collaboration. How we as a community can go beyond welcoming to making people feel they truly belong.

john a. powell recently spoke in Ashland to a crowd of nearly 600 people at the request of local community leaders who have been meeting to explore how we can face shared challenges- housing shortages, economic uncertainty, budget constraints, climate threats, political divides, etc.- while building greater connection and resilience throughout Southern Oregon. His talk is available to watch on YouTube. An article by Ashland.news on his talk is available to read on their website.

powell is a professor of law, African American studies, and ethnic studies at UC Berkeley and is a well-respected advocate for civil and human rights.

Lori Nitchals and Suzanne Andersen will co-facilitate the sessions. We welcome you into deep connection, making new friends, and bending the arc of history towards justice.
