RVUUF’s Music Director, Shaun Garner, pianist Jane Manning and choir offer music in varied styles during Sunday morning services, beginning with gathering music at 10:25 a.m. The choir rehearses weekly during RVUUF’s program year, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays. New members are encouraged to join. According to Ms. Garner, “Inspiration, laughter, challenge, and community are just a few of the many rewards of singing.”

About our Music Director

Julie Crooks

Julie Crooks, our Acting Music Director for RVUUF. A fairly recent newcomer to Oregon, Julie comes from Southern California where she sang with a number of choral organizations including the Selah Gospel Choir, Vox Femina, Los Robles Master Choral and the Los Angeles Master Chorale on occasion. Before moving to Oregon to join her daughter, Julie conducted the choir at Chalice Unitarian (then CVUUF) in Thousand Oaks, CA for almost 15 years. During this time, Julie also contributed to the UU Musician’s Network (now Association for Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries) as a clinician at their annual conferences, and on the UUMN Board.

Choral Scholars

A generous bequest from the estate of Audrey Sochor, former member of RVUUF and the Chancel Choir, occasionally supports the presence of “Choral Scholars,” music students at Southern Oregon University. RVUUF’s Choral Scholars, one in each section of the choir, support its volunteer singers, provide weekly continuity and assist in presenting quality music each Sunday that is inspiring and uplifting. The Choral Scholars also provide special music on Sundays when the choir isn’t singing.
