ipad portraitAdapted to smaller screens/mobile devices by using dropdown menus and an "adaptive theme", with a different layout/appearance; UUA recommendations for mobile sites; Wikipedia: Responsive Web Design. For many sites (including our previous site), content often clips rather than wraps, forcing horizontal scrolling.
Want to see this in action? On a tablet or smartphone, rotate between portrait (screenshots: iPad1, iPhone4S) and landscape (screenshots: iPad1, iPhone4S) orientations. On a desktop/laptop computer, you can simulate a smaller screen size: start on our home page, gradually narrow your browser window (usually by dragging its bottom right corner), while noticing...
  • the title, slogan and search box in header begin horizontally, then shift to a vertical arrangement with smaller fonts and a different background pattern/color
  • the menu bar under header starts horizontally, morphing into a grid, then a vertical menu
  • at bottom of home page, the 4 UU external news feeds shift from 4-columns across, to 2x2, to vertical
