Olympia Brown was the first woman ordained by an American denomination. At a time in our history when even the idea of a woman minister was considered impossible, even scandalous, Olympia persevered and changed women's history, our history. She was a Universalist and the minister, as unlikely as it seems, to the great showman P.T. Barnum, and the great women's rights champion, Susan B. Anthony.
