Life is brief, and every goodbye is a gift wrapped in the paper of grief or confusion, relief or promise. Sometimes all of those at once. Every time we say goodbye, we have a chance to know ourselves a little better, a mini revelation, a chance to practice the many leavings in all our lives: Even the BIG goodbye which Elizabeth Kubler Ross calls “The Final Stage of Growth.”
