The Universalist and Unitarian denominations united in 1961 to form the . In this country, both groups began in the late 1700s as liberal Christian spin-offs. Although they had similar values, there were differences in theology (Universalists stressing salvation for all and Unitarians a single not trinitarian deity). During the 200 years before joining together, they had distinct histories, heroes and causes. We will explore their differences and similarities during the month of September.
