health care reformThe Social Action Committee and Caring Network Health Ministries are co-sponsoring an informational meeting on Health Care Reform. A light lunch will be served around 12:15pm for those interested in staying for the presentations.

John Forsyth, MD, is a retired physician and bio-ethicist who is the co-founder of VOLPACT, a Rogue Valley partnership providing care for the uninsured. His topic will be Our Broken System and the Possibility of Health Care Reform. Steve Neuberger has spent several decades in labor, community and political organizing, and is the Southern Oregon organizer for Health Care For America NOW(HCAN). He will be presenting updates on the Oregon and National Health Care Proposals and ways we can have input into this process.

A follow-up “study circle” focusing on health issues affecting our community will begin on Thu, Apr 9th, at 1pm. This first meeting will feature Rich Rohde, from Oregon Action, who will present the “latest” news from Salem about the Oregon Health Plan. These events are sponsored by the Social Action Committee and the Caring Network Health Ministries who believe that Health Care for All is especially relevant to our UU Covenant to promote justice, equity and compassion in our human relations through the democratic process.
