I don’t have experiences that specifically qualified me for this job other than having the reputation of being reliable and having run a household of 7 people for 20+ years. My background is more a variety of part-time jobs that were usually related to teaching.
I graduated in 1968 with a BS in mathematics and a double minor (education and music). My first job was teaching math in a Junior High till I became pregnant with my second child. From then on I was a full time Mom and worked only part time. For example, I have substitute taught, I ran my own day care center for 3 years, I taught private piano for several years, I tutored math, I’ve sold wood stoves, ice cream and soap. After moving to Ashland in 1982, I became a foster care mother and later organized a rehabilitation program for my daughter when she suffered a serious head injury after being hit by a drunk driver.
I have been active in this church since the move to Ashland, so now I am an old-time member. When I first moved here with my past husband, our children were in the Ashland schools. The Fellowship was small and was meeting in Talent. So I became active trying to start a children’s religious program for the Fellowship. For many years I organized the Wednesday Potluck & Discussion group. I have always sung in the choir whenever we had directors. Now I keep the Everybody Group for the fellowship active. Most of my activities are connected to the Fellowship. I love it; it is my expanded family.
