RVUUF Great Hall
Sun, Jan 16, 3pm. Acclaimed guitarist, James Edwards, joins award-winning flutist, Jacqueline Rosen, performing music from Brazil, Spain, and France. Both classically trained, these concert partners were brought together by their technical flair, exciting performance style, and wide ranging repertoire.
Ms. Rosen has performed with San Francisco Opera, Cabrillo, Carmel and Tanglewood Music Festivals, and has worked with Seiji Ozawa, Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, Henry Mancini, and other notable conductors. Her playing has been described as “fiery...yet refined” (Carmel Pine Cone) and “soulful” (Monterey Herald). J-P Rampal wrote that Ms. Rosen has "a warm tone, good technique, and fine musicality."
Mr. Edwards is noted for performances that evoke “...all the clarity and feeling of Segovia” (Alain Waits, Lompoc Record). He performs on the Classical guitar as well the Baroque guitar and Renaissance lute, and currently teaches guitar at SOU.
