Remember when 9/11 became the benchmark for how the world changed? Now it seems to be the morning after the election: 11/9. The obvious difference is that no one lost their life on 11/9 but many lost their rudder and sense of direction, including myself.
Our responses to the election results will be diverse and fluid and our challenge today will be to embrace each other no matter where we find ourselves on the spectrum. The dark days are upon us as we fall back in time in November. To address my need for more light during the dark days I decided to spread out my vacation weeks, so I’m headed to Mexico from Oct. 30 to Nov. 6 to take advantage of my second week of vacation.
The political climate we have found ourselves living in these days is increasingly stressful, disturbing, annoying, and sometimes fearful. For me, I find myself waking up every morning wondering if it’s over yet, and then, once I’m fully awake, I realize it’s not. Thus begins my day.
September is a time for new beginnings. Summer is waning and fall is in the air. A very special ingathering service at RVUUF will be held on Sept. 11 at 10:25 a.m. This begins the Sunday morning routine when children join the Sunday service again through the Time for all Ages segment of the service.
